As part of the guest performance of Songs of the Wayfarer by Claire Cunningham, the Kommunales Kino will screen two short dance films beforehand.
One Hundred and Eleven – 111 is an expressive duet between dancer and wheelchair user Joel Brown (Candoco Dance and Axis Dance) and former prima ballerina Eve Mutso (Scottish Ballet).
The award-winning documentary Nothing But Bones In The Way depicts the collaborative dance practice of dance and video artist Dianne Reid and Melinda Smith, a dancer with cerebral palsy. The film celebrates the unique artistic relationship and friendship between the two, rooted in their shared love of dance. Nothing But Bones In The Way was originally the title of an improvised performance. Footage of this performance, as well as archival material from the dancers’ studio, is included in the film.
