Doppelkopf Tournament

Four at the table, two against two — and yet nothing is set in stone.
At the Doppelkopf tournament as part of the PERFORMING DEMOCRACY festival, players play, negotiate, and make decisions, because Doppelkopf is a game of alliances: partnerships form, shift, and must be read and endured. The rules of the game are known, yet there remains room for interpretation, strategy, and negotiation. This is precisely where the game touches on questions of democracy.
Who plays with whom? When is cooperation called for, and when is opposition? How do we deal with power, chance, responsibility, and defeat? In tournament mode, Doppelkopf becomes a democratic testing ground: community trumps all—but only if it is constantly renegotiated.
Beginners are just as welcome as experienced players. The game is played in rotating rounds, fairly moderated, and open to anyone who feels like getting involved in the game—and with each other.

If possible, bring your own Skat decks—some are available.
