Q&A session after the performance
A dance performance that crawls underneath the skin – minimalist, intense and of soft force.
'To the arms!' is a warning call that calls for both, readiness and defence. This precise choreography by Ginevra Penzetti and Enrico Ticconi explores the tension between one's individual's capacity to act and collective force. The six dancers explore the boundry between necessary defence and the risk of becoming what we fear the most: a self-intoxicated mob with no morals. The performance explore the (a)rhythmic potential of the human step in all ist various forms.
'All'Arme' is a powerful dance performance that plays heavily with body image associations but leaves room for interpretation. Do we see a (military) parade, a huge event? Or are we in the middle of a sports event or a rock concert? Suddenly, we find ourselves as individuals in the crowd who share their wounds and support each other. Images of delicate vulnerability morph into images of enormous strength. We see dancers struggling and proving themselves while being watched and judged, sometimes stepping out of line. There is continuous interaction. This production touches us with its virtuous exploration of the boundaries between protection and aggression, strength and vulnerability. It walks the fine line between group and individual, empowerment and oppression, while simultaneously revealing the disarming humanity of weakness.
“It’s exactly this disarming humanity as a utopian momentum that should be built upon in the current political situation. Equally, this performance urges us to take a close look at all questions concerning the weakening of our democracy, so that we do not unwittingly and in good faith become accomplices." – the curators
In other words:

The title is: "To Arms!"
Six female dancers are on stage.
They show how people can protect one another.
But a large group of people can also be dangerous.
The piece features various scenes.
At times, it looks like a parade or a major event.
Then you see people helping one another.
