THE MOVEMENT
An event for art ultras and sports audience – full of energy, excitement, and momentum.
In times of overlapping crises and tight budgets, sports, the arts, and social services are increasingly being pitted against one another. Where one is strengthened, the other must give way. We’re picking up on this propaganda and, in collaboration with performance artist Julian Warner, we’re bringing the ultimate “Sports vs. Art” competition to the city of Freiburg in an ironic and subversive way. Julian Warner is an expert in large-scale spectacles in public spaces that performatively address socially relevant topics. Get ready, Freiburgers: Everyone is called upon in DIE BEWEGUNG. In high-energy public training sessions, significant Freiburg cultural venues will be challenged athletically and re-evaluated socially: with power, tension, and momentum. Over four days, training, action, and collective experience will coalesce into a total work of art.
The highlight will see all participating sports groups come together at the stadium of the Freiburger Turnerschaft for an exhilarating spectacle of sport and art. Be part of DIE BEWEGUNG and train with us to march out of the cultural institutions.
A co-production by E-WERK Freiburg, Theater im Marienbad and Theater Freiburg

In other words:
The DIE BEWEGUNG project is a collaborative art initiative with artist Julian Warner.
We’re asking a question: Do we need dedicated spaces for art and culture? Or does sports bring people closer together?
There will be three public training sessions at different locations. "Public" means anyone can come and participate in sports and practice together.
But you’re also welcome to just watch.
We’ll move together and reflect on these questions.
On May 10 at 2 p.m., there will be a big sports festival in a stadium.
The stadium belongs to the Freiburg Gymnastics Club. It is located at Schwarzwald-Straße 181.
Many Freiburg clubs are participating.
They will showcase their sports.
